This gel holds fluid inside the pad and helps maintain a moist environment at the wound surface, while making the pad easier to remove without pulling at the area underneath. As a super absorbent wound dressing, ExcelGinate is well suited to wounds that give off a moderate to heavy amount of fluid. Because the pad conforms to the shape of the wound, it can also be tucked gently into cavities and uneven areas where a flat product would not sit well. This makes it a flexible choice for many situations, from leg ulcers and pressure ulcer wound care to donor sites, post-surgical sites, and minor everyday scrapes and abrasions. Each box includes five sterile 4 x 4 inch absorbent pads, individually sealed for single use. For best results, use the pad dry, cover it with a secondary dressing, and change it based on how much fluid the wound is giving off. Do not moisten the pad before applying, and avoid pairing it with a hydrogel. If the pad feels dry or clings when you remove it, moisten it with sterile saline wound wash or a wound cleanser first. Always follow the instructions of your healthcare professional so the product fits your specific needs.
